FHA home loan lending here in Winter Haven, Florida has been busting at the seams, and Friday brought some more great news to  folks living in high-cost areas looking to finance a home purchase or refinance using an FHA Home loan.

The Federal Housing Administration announced that it is temporarily raising  the limits of loans it will insure to nearly $730,000 for certain high-cost FHA areas.

While Monroe County, Florida (Key West – Marathon area) is presently the only high-cost area for Florida FHA mortgages considered for this increase, this latest move by the Federal Housing Administration is a welcome sign of forward progress.

Anything that has FHA activity on the rise works for me.  We’ve seen it increase here, as local renter as well as out of state retirees are looking to capitalize on outstanding mortgage rates, the $8,000 first-time homebuyer tax credit, and FHA’s low 3.5 percent downpayment requirement.
